About John

John is a proud, lifelong citizen of Sumner County where his ancestors settled over 200 years ago.  His Sumner County Roots run deep, and so do his conservative values.  Growing up here has taught him the value of faith, family, freedom, friends and community.

After graduating MTSU with a Bachelor of Science he made Sumner County his permanent home.  John and his wife, Sherrie, have been married for 24 years and have a son, John Porter .  They attend church at Hendersonville First Baptist where John is also the Scoutmaster of Boy Scout Troop 413.  He has volunteered in leadership roles with the Boy Scouts of America for the last eight years.

“Having served our community for the last 26 years as a Geographic Information System Analyst with the Sumner County Assessor’s office,  I would be honored to continue my service as your next Assessor of Property.  As Assessor I will be committed to the fair and transparent assessment of all property in Sumner County and to keeping Sumner County at the forefront of assessment technology and continuing education.
